Codex quota / reset opacity
TaskPico Codex Quota Decision
Before you burn your remaining Codex quota, know whether to run now, conserve, lower reasoning effort, wait for the reset, or verify first — from official OpenAI plan facts plus the quota state you read on your own dashboard.
What you provide
- Your plan (Plus, Pro 5x / 20x, Business, Enterprise, API key…) and the model you intend to use.
- The task: small, medium or large, and how urgent it is.
- As you read them on your usage dashboard or /status: remaining share of the current window, minutes to reset, weekly share, and what you observe about a reset. Nothing is read from your account and nothing is stored.
- Optional: the reasoning effort or mode you intend to use.
What you get back
- One action: RUN NOW, CONSERVE, LOWER EFFORT, WAIT FOR RESET or VERIFY FIRST — with the reasons.
- Known facts from official OpenAI pages: your plan's local-message estimate range for that model per five-hour period, credits per token, what happens at the limit, and the reasoning-effort guidance — each with its source and date.
- Your situation aligned to those facts, alternatives (smaller model with its official range, credits, API key, lower effort) and the explicit uncertainties.
It is not a reset countdown and never confirms a reset. It never infers your account's limits, and it never quantifies how much a reasoning-effort level saves, because OpenAI publishes no such figure. Your assistant interprets the result; the tool only applies official facts to the state you supply.

Example
Synthetic situation: Plus plan, GPT-6 Astra, a medium task that is not urgent, 30% of the five-hour window left, reset in 40 minutes, high reasoning effort. The values are illustrative.
